2025 G5 Riesling

G5 is the name of the singular site where we source the fruit for this wine. This is an extremely special wine - Hand harvested from four select rows at the peak of the G5 block amongst the Gullyview Vineyard, this wine captures the essence of Watervale. Grown on limestone soils and crafted with precision, it delivers purity, drive, and a true sense of place.

It was quiet an interesting vintage. Very dry and warm conditions led to pickingearly in February. We had a couple of hot days that we got a bit worried about but the Riesling canopy 's protected the grapes from any sunburn and we ended up with grapes full of flavour! The G5 site thrived in such conditions, picking the select 4 rows at the peak of Gullyview Vineyard at the perfect time has led to a Riesling with texture, flavour and great length.

On the nose there is a real freshness, floral, white pepper spice, a slight exotic pine needle-like character, with a touch of wet rock. The pallet offers incredible texture and tension. It is super mineral, chalky with beautifully balanced acid that drives the wine, great length. Your typical Watervale lemon, lime and citrus characters shine alongside nashi pear and white peach.

Fermentation: Stainless steel for 3 weeks at 18 degrees, the wine completed full malo-lactic fermentation following this
Aging vessel: Quarter in sandstone amphora and the rest in stainless steel
on fine lees for 5 months and then blended together into stainless for a
further 3 months before bottling.
