2025 'Lot Two Three' Riesling

Lot Two Three is the the title of the section of Gullyview Vineyards in which we source the grapes for this wine, Lot 23.

It was quiet an interesting vintage. Very dry and warm conditions led to picking early in February. We had a couple of hot days that we got a bit worried about but the Riesling canopy's protected the grapes from any sunburn and we ended up with full flavour grapes with lower acid and baume levels compared to the past few vintages. This has created Riesling with beautiful aromatics and great layers of flavour and texture, the wines are approachable early and offer high drinkability.

On the eye you get a stunning subtle golden hue with a touch of fluorescent green. The nose is super floral, with hints of pine needle, a touch of white spice and freshly squeezed lemons. The pallet has a beautiful silkiness to it as soon as it hits, typical Watervale bright citrus characters jump out, along with gentle mineral characters from the limestone the vineyard is grown on, which also offers a touch of chalkiness, there is a real freshness and a pure rainwater character here, with a touch of tonic, which makes for the ultimate refreshment wine!

2025 'Lot Two Three' Riesling - 93+ points

Energetic off the bat, with a mineral, crushed-rock spritz to the nose of the wine. The palate follows suit, but with racy acidity as the main event, supported well by classic lemon and lime. A touch salty, with margarita-rim appeal. There's a waft of almond nuttiness and just the mere suggestion of honey on the back palate. True and archetypal Clare riesling.

2025 'Lot Two Three' Riesling - 93 points

A fragrant wine with apple tones against a core of yellow citrus. Pomelo and backyard lemons. It is cordial in its balance, with bright acidity nicely worked into the flesh of the wine. Supple and succulent, finishing dry but with last tree fruit flavours. This is perfect pick me up, energized riesling that will work well on a hot day or with some poached prawns on white rolls.

2025 'Lot Two Three' Riesling - 92 points

Tight and fresh, lean and racy, brisk and briny with distinct lemony tang amongst crunchy, light, green apple juice characters. An inward juiciness, light sheen of almond savouriness and faint sour dough characters. Very pure and precise, and of course ultra refreshing. Classic lines, with some pizzazz.
